History of the "Tennis Bracelet"
During the 1987 U.S. Open, tennis star Chris Evert was playing a vigorous match when her diamond bracelet had come unclasped and fallen onto the court. Evert asked officials to stop the game and viewers watched the televised search until her expensive bracelet was located. The incident sparked the desire for new diamond bracelets in many viewers, causing a craze for what became affectionately known as “the tennis bracelet.”
